Mark
A werewolf who has adjusted to his new life in a post apocalyptic world alongside his close friend Opal.
Within the few years the apocalypse happened and the story starts, Mark had found three abandoned werewolf pups in the forest on his full moon nights. He took them into his home to take care of.
His home has a garden he tends to, and from which he gathers the food he cooks for the house hold.
Very generous, forgiving, and assumes the best of intentions in everyone. Overall trusting.
Nearly his entire life he has wanted children, and now its seems he does, but there's one part missing in his dream for a family. A spouse.
Whats stopping him is his internalized homophobia, despite finally being comfortable enough to express his gender nonconformity.
He also struggles to talk about problems and express his own opinions, afraid it will cause the people around him not to like him.
He quickly grows a crush on Luther and they eventually get together after Mark overcomes a few of his insecurities.
Although they both try to inspire the best in each other, Luther's abrasive and defensive nature and Mark aversion to conflict raises trouble when they need to talk about problems.
Star Trek AU Mark
Note that his eyes are brown in this AU rather than yellow because he is not a werewolf.
Star Trek AU Mark is the ships doctor. He was from modern day, but due to a temporal anomaly he was brought into the future where he made a new life by joining Star Fleet.
Although he enjoys the future due to being able to make a more satisfying living and the near eliminated homophobia, he still finds himself feeling out of place and reminded of his upbringing.
Luther
A mage who's running away from something, and he won't tell Mark or Opal what exactly he is hiding from.
Bringing along his old friend (and partner) Gabrielle, he has accepted Mark's generosity and sought refuge in Mark's house.
It turns out he isn't very good at being a mage, that he's struggled with controlling his magic his whole life. But he doesn't let just anybody know this. This secret is known to only Gabrielle and eventually Mark.
After confiding in Mark about this deep insecurity, and finding Mark to be more than supportive, Luther catches himself seeking out Mark's company, but frustrated when Mark's upbringing comes between them.
Magic isn't the only thing he struggles to control. He has a temper, and emotional outbursts tend to produce magical outbursts.
Hes defensive and touchy, leading to arguments that caused the split between him and Gabrielle.
To escape all of the expectations of judgement from his peers and family he joined a star ship with a majorly human crew.
Unfortunately he found himself reminded by his crew mates of how Vulcan he was, or how Vulcan he wasn't. Because of this he developed a hostile attitude.
A change of pace brings its way into his life when Mark comes aboard. Mark treats him as an individual rather than just his race and respects his boundaries.
He begins to look forward to Mark's company and develops a crush on him.
Opal
One of the few humans who remained human.
She and Mark lived together before the apocalypse, in a shitty overpriced apartment. They've been close friends since college, so it was natural that they would stay together after the apocalypse.
Although she misses her friends and online communities, living with Mark provides her with a sense of security she never knew as an aromantic person who doesn't want to live alone.
But when Mark develops a fondness for Luther, she's left feeling insecure again.
Although not as trusting as Mark she's usually friendly towards new faces, and has no problem making new friends she can test her puns on.
The only problem is, her idea of making new friends is not inviting two strangers into the house in the middle of night, especially considering they're hiding something from them.
For that reason, and the questionable things Luther does, shes rather hostile towards him, frequently trying to persuade Mark to kick the mages out.
She's extremely loyal to her friends, and will stand up for them in the face of anything.
Unfortunately she's also deeply afraid that none of her friends actually like her and that they'll abandon her for someone else.
She's a furry and an amateur artist, as well as an amateur seamstress.
Gabrielle
But thing is she can't stand to let Luther go even if they are no longer compatible, because he knows so much about her and meeting someone new means starting all over again.
She picked up photography to document her experiences, but finds it difficult to keep up this hobby after the apocalypse, so she's on a constant search for a camera she can use.
On the other hand it's not difficult to find athletic activities, and she's often active as a way to cool down and maintain a steady mind in the mess.
Gabrielle in my Star Trek AU is the ship's captain. She absolutely loves exploring new worlds and meeting the people who live on them. She is generally optimistic about other life forms intentions, but also retains a level of realism.
She woos all the alien ladies as my own tribute to Kirk's antics but gay.
Laila
A faun on the search for anything that will make her human again, and books in the meantime.
Shes very insecure of her changes, and wears long dresses to hide her legs as well as scarves to hide her ears when she's around someone who doesn't know yet
Reading and collecting books gives her something to focus on instead of fretting about her appearance all the time. But she will take any opportunity she can to find a solution.
She feels particularly sensitive about being a faun, as she wants to regain any bit of humanity she can, after having been dehumanized for other traits.
Outside of book collecting she is a very skilled artist, and drew the portraits of the werewolf children on the lost children posters around the area.
